The island of Langkawi or Pulau Langkawi is actually an archipelago of 104 islands. They are congregated around the Andaman Sea and is located within the seas of northern Malaysian state Kedah which is about 30km off the mainland.
The most happening town, Kuah Town
Langkawi’s main and largest town here is Kuah which is located around the southeastern region of the islands. It is in Kuah town that you will be able to visit the Tourist Information Centre that will accord you with all the information you will need when travelling into Langkawi Island that include places to stay, important information and others.
Langkawi island is a very popular tourist place as it is a tax-free zone and is covered with a lot of beaches and seaside resorts while there are some hills in the heart of the island.
The Jetty Point Shopping Complex is located on the southeast section of the island which is where you will alight if you come in by ferry. Here is where you can also enjoy some of the best shopping and retail centres where you can buy very affordable items.
Most attractions are in western region
On the western region of Langkawi is the Langkawi International Airport which is also where the Mukim Padang Matsirat is located. Around this region is where you can also visit the Oriental Village, the Batik Art Village, the widely popular Telaga Tujuh waterfalls as well as the Langkawi Cable Car.
Anyone who visits Langkawi would know of Pantai Cenang which is the most popular beach here and this is where it is located. It is also here that you will be able to pay a visit to the Langkawi Underwater World where you can see some of the coolest exhibition of the underwater life around the waters here.
Langkawi North area attractions
From here, you can head up north where the Datai Bay Golf Club and the Langkawi Crocodile Farm are located. Around the coastal areas of the northern part of Langkawi island is the Ibrahim Hussein Museum and Cultural Foundation while the Pantai Pasir Hitam is also located around here.
Langkawi South are attractions
The Langkawi Golf Club is located towards the southern part of the island where it also houses the jetty that will let you jump off to Pulau Tuba and Pulau Dayang Bunting.
The not so popular Eastern part of the island
The eastern part of the island is not so popular although there are many resorts along the coastal areas. The Galeria Perdana and the Langkawi Bird Paradise are both located around this region.
In the middle of Langkawi island
