Organised by the 99 Bikes Club, the first round of the Kiss-Up MT Challenge took place on March recently in Langkawi island.
Some 79 mountain bikers took part in the event where they will be competing through a cross country track which started off in Kampung Kisap Track.
The event will involve 4 categories for the competitors that include the junior, women, senior and elite categories respectively.
It is a highly competitive and draining race where it covers single track, uphill and downhill tracks too of which the junior and women categories only require them to finish the 12km course once while the senior and elite categories would require 2 laps of the course.
Malaysian and International bikers competing head to head
Helen Beswick from England won the women’s category while Lim Choon Gan and Noor Syakira Yamanluddin came in second and third. Daniel Aizril Azhar won the junior category beating Lim Zhi xian and Mohd Iqbal Zainol.
To the harder categories, Khor Chin Dee won the first place while Ch’ng Chai Lim and Hamzani Ahmad were second and third and Goh Yong Choon won the elite event.
The second place went to Mohd Arif Che Awang while Lim Sian Cien was third. After this, they will competing in 3 more rounds to be held in different locations around the island.
